Welcome to Jamaicaplain.com

Going strong since 1994 as one of the very first town websites in Massachusetts, we now have a new home with many new features. We welcome the residents of Jamaica Plain as well as past and future residents to contribute to this site and make it as wonderful and diverse as the town it’s self. Make sure you stop by the voice on the left and say hello, talk about news, events, and town issues. Find old friends or make new ones, everyone has the ability to contribute and make this a truly wonderful place to visit, just like the real town. We appreciate your comments and will do our best to provide features and abilities that make the site user friendly and problem free. Please keep in mind that we currently do not make any money from producing this site and would appreciate any volunteer help or support you can give.
Thank you!

Planning a New JP Farmer's Market!

CommunityCommunityServings writes "Community Servings is planning a weekend farmer's market for this summer and wants your input! We'd like to know if you'd be interested in coming to a Sunday Market, here at Community Servings, and if so, what time of day you'd be most likely to stop by! Also, what types of produce and specialty items would you likely purchase at a farmer's market? We are still in the planning phase and are excited to see this project come to fruition. We are hoping to supply you with fresh, local, organic produce while at the same time creating relationships with farmer's to help support our mission of delivering free nutritious meals to people homebound with critical illnesses throughout eastern Massachusetts.  City of Boston to launch Community Emergency Response Team in JP

PaulH writes "Boston’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program trains citizens to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their communities. Through CERT, citizens learn skills and concepts that prepare them to assist victims, organize volunteers, and help their neighbors recover in the aftermath of a disaster. CERT also teaches people how to prepare their homes, their families, and their communities in order to reduce the impact of a disaster."
